In Black and White : Race on Early Television

Who were the pioneers in Black entertainment? Has television grown in terms of its racial depictions? How were early shows such as Amos n' Andy, or Beulah seen? What did these shows reflect about the times? Was it a Catch-22 of sorts; to not be allowed on television unless perpetu-
ating an obvious stereotype?
