Civic associations
From Internet: Knowledge and Community
Civic associations are simply a group of people, or an organization, directed at bettering neighborhood, or local conditions. In Schuler's "New Community Networks" he refers to Harvard professor Robert Putnam who declares that these civic associations, along with participation in the political process, are at an all time low. This is explained by the fear stricken inner city and the deterioration of human interactivity in the suburbs.
