Arts, Environment and the Child: Walking the Wheel of the Seasons

Project Reflections

Date Place Reflections
Lincoln elementary This quarter I have a plan worked out with my classroom teacher that I will come in once a week and lead movement activities for 40 minutes with the entire class. So I started this and have done it twice so far. I try to incorporate Yoga and dance with some games to get the kids moving a little more during these rainy dark days. I think that so far it has gone okay, but I have found out that leading 19,5-6 year olds is really challenging. So it has been a little chaotic at times. But the second week I made a few adjustments and I noticed slight improvement. One thing that I found really rewarding was that the second time I came in to do it, the teacher told the class that they would be having P.E. with me and I had several kids get all excited and run up to me ask "are we really going get to do P.E. with you today". It is really encouraging to know that the kids enjoy what I plan for them.
