4.  Quick Review:   More examples now that we have less time to review:

5.  Bases:
           a.  Base 2,  Conversion
           b.  Any Base   What is 10, base 7, 9, 21…   11?  100?

6.  What is a Log?     number =  base^power    log(number) = power
           a.  Base 10,  What is the log for the following:  10, 100, 1,  367, 4732, etc
           b.  Base 2?     Base e?  any base?
           c.  y = log(b)^x    same as  b^y = x
           d.  Logarithmic Scale     Base 10, between 10 and 100.  Find 10 grid lines
           e.  Richter Scale.. why?n  5.6 vs 5.9 on Richter Scale

7.  Graph y= log(x)

8.  Properties of logs   (Skip change of base, 3.11)
             a.  log(xy)  = log(x) + log(y)     Examples:
             b.  log(x/y)  =   log(x) – log(y)
             c.  log(x)^y  =  y log(x)

9.  Purpose??  Now we can solve for a variable in the exponent postion:
             a.    10^t = 1000    log(10^t) = log(1000)    or  t (log10) = log(1000)    but log10 = 1 and log 1000 = 3,   so t(1) = 3, or t = 3.
             b.    x(y^t) = z    y^t = z/x       log (y^t) = log(z/x)    t(logy) = log(y/z)   divide both sides by logy to get t
