Arts, Environment and the Child: Walking the Wheel of the Seasons

Garden

Garden Project

I am totally jazzed about the garden project.  I have been thinking of a Herbal Garden for years.  Now I have a little more inspiration beyond thinking, thanks to the class I have moved into planning. It will be at the end of the walk way that used to lead out to the chicken house, the view is from my bed room window to the South East, and about 50 feet from the river.  It will transition into the upper vegetable garden where I also grow many annual flowers.  I’m planning on a fire pit (small in the center with a stone bench or flat rock).

What: Witches Garden (culinary, medicinal and magical plants)-Pentagram

Where:  At the end of the path near the river and before the annual flower garden, vegetable garden, outside of the Master Bedroom window to the East.

Size:  16’x16’

Center:  Small Fire Pit (old wheel from an auto for containment), large flat rock or concrete bench

Walk way around pentagram, representing the sacred circle

Herbs:  At least 13

  1. Sage
  2. Lemon Balm
  3. Lavender,
  4. Catnip
  5. Thyme
  6. Winter Savory
  7. Summer Savory
  8. Rosemary
  9. Tarragon
  10. Spearmint
  11. Mugwort
  12. Oregano
  13. Basil
