A lack of Education or training can make a project difficult or impossible to complete.

Sometimes a Project needs certain technical knowledge that can only be achieved by instruction from a qualified source.

During the course of a project there are tasks that may need special knowledge to complete. These tasks can be a large or small aspect of the project. Without the knowledge or training needed to complete the tasks they become major problems. To be successful you need to be open to learning. Learning can come from many different sources including self educating. If the task to be completed is a very technical issue you will need professional training from a knowledgable source. Colleges and technical schools are a great resource for very in depth learning, but can take long periods of time. Time can be saved with training with consultants that specialize in the fields were training is needed, but this can be more expensive. One of the problems that I faced with my art project is a lack of ability and patience to teach myself or seek out training for painting techniques that I know would improve my art work. I know that I am lacking in this area but I have made up for that lack by just making more art and slowly learning the skills that I need from doing.

UPDATE I had trouble properly lighting a set for a film shoot. I was able to correct the levels and color of the footage while editing, but some things could just not be fixed in post-production. Sometimes What can be fixed manually will greatly reduce headaches from digital troubleshooting. It is essential to have the skills to be able to fix problems on-set--in this case, an incorrectly lit scene--in order to reduce stress from a situation like this.

The functionality of our project depended heavily on a database, but we did not know how to store a concept that was also necessary in the database.

Any learning is good, but a more focused training can add speed and quality to any project. Assuring success means a willingness to learn new things.

It is also useful to find people who have the proper education and training needed for a specific project to have their expertise at hand even if they aren't a part of your project team. For instance having the amazing Evergreen faculty and other students at hand.
