Each of these program members contributed to this wiki project in the Spring of 2008. We are a group of students at Evergreen who range from freshman to senior. We share academic and creative interests in our research projects and in the use of social media applications on the read/write web.

Prison Library Advocacy -- Emily Beanblossom is interested in Library Science, Cultural Studies, and the Humanities. For the purpose of a research project, she is attempting to discover a correlation between access to information for prisoners and an accelerated rehabilitation period during incarceration.

Prison Activism and Resistance--Alexa Carson is interested in literature, journalism, art as a catalyst for social change, social justice and prison abolition. Her current research focuses on the injustices that occur within the judicial system as well as within the industrial prison complex. She'd like to explore the consequences of mass imprisonment and alternatives to social exclusion. Her studies will also look briefly at the Mass Media's reporting that often construes the effectiveness of the industrial system by distancing the report from its original context.

Affirming Marginalized Identities--Lucas Cuellar is interested Social Change, Anti-Discrimination Law, the law in general, and how culture informs and creates the law. These interests grow out of a history of cultural studies, post-colonial studies, and a practical understanding of how to best affect change in the world. This quarter, Lucas is researching the ways in which online groups that have formed around marginal identities work to affirm those identities.

Censorship in Schools--Blaine Foley Interested in k-12 education, literature and writing in all educational levels. Current research reflects censorship in k-12 education. Research studies come from hopeful entrance in the MIT program at Evergreen.

Election '08 -- Drew Grissom Interested in the use of the internet in the 2008 election and how the web has been utilized by campaigns in order to raise money and gain support. Furthermore, I plan to look at how online political groups have been using the web to spread their message and how they have and will influence the ongoing democratic and republican primaries and upcoming general election

Music Downloading -- Kramer Klein is interested in the music industry, especially its changes regarding the downloading of music. Such changes include not only legal shifts, but social and economic shifts as well. His topic choice arises from an interest in both music and culture, and the effect of each upon the other.

Native America Online -- Loren's academic interests include journalism, native studies, political science, literature, and audio technology.

Cooperative Movement -- StablerResume is interested in Agriculture, Psychology, Community Studies and Business. For my research project, I will study how Cooperatives positively reinforce community sustainability.

Net Neutrality -- [User: Scopat01|Pat Scott-Walsh]] is a student at TESC. His research about net neutrality is from his passion for the freedom of ideas, innovation, and information. He lives in Cape Cod with his 2 dogs Ranger and Roosevelt.

Blogosphere: Citizen Journalism and DIY Media -- Jules Unsel teaches new media studies and history at Evergreen. Her research interest in the blogosphere grows out of a fascination with social media and its potential for creating meaningful, positive social change.
