Portrait: A Multimedia Web Workshop Covenant * Winter 2010
The goal of this class is for students to build a foundation of media literacy skills and gain basic proficiency with media production and web technologies through completing a series of technology workshops, conducting individual research, creating a personal blog site and through completing creative projects that explore the theme of portraiture.
Student: In order to support the above goals and earn full credit I agree:
• To attend and fully participate in all program activities. This includes arriving on time (arriving before scheduled class time) and being prepared to participate, whether that involves collaborating, facilitating, speaking, creating, moving, viewing or discussing. I will contact my faculty in advance if I am to be absent and understand that this may result in the loss of credit.
• To accept responsibility for my work by reading or viewing assigned texts by the date designated in the syllabus and completing all assignments on time and with integrity, giving credit to those whose ideas I use or whose words I quote. I understand late, incomplete or “make-up” work is not acceptable. I will take the initiative to consult with faculty whenever I have difficulty with the content and/or pace of the program.
• To use media equipment and facilities responsibly. I will follow requested procedures for booking and use, respect the access needs of my peers and leave all lab and work areas clean and normalized when I finish with each session.
• To share in small and large group planning, evaluating, organizing, presenting and other tasks related to program content, structure and harmony.
• To respect my own work and the work of others.
• To listen and work with my colleagues as I wish to be listened to and spoken with.
• To recognize that the classroom isn’t exempt from dynamics of privilege, oppression, and assumptions, and to work to acknowledge this, remain accountable, and deconstruct it.
• To abide by the Social Contract and the Sexual Harassment Policy.
• To complete self, faculty and program evaluations at evaluation period in the context of formal and informal evaluation conferences and discussions.
• I understand that credit will be awarded on the following merits:
- 1 credit for attendance, punctuality and participation
- 1 credit for a completed blog site
- 1 credit for a completed final project
- 1 credit for completion of all weekly assignments
