Join Bridges Not Walls for a hands-on workshop to learn techniques for monitoring and documenting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol activity in our area. Get information about the situation on the border, in our local community, and on the Olympic Peninsula – an area experiencing increased arrests and detentions.
Led by Benjamin Prado, Coordinator of the San Diego US/Mexico Border Program of the American Friends Service Committee.
This program works to support the growth and development of immigrant-led organizations, with the goal of bringing the voices and concerns of immigrant communities into policy debates at the local, state, and national level.

Every month, Bridges Not Walls hosts a Solidarity Vigil at the Northwest Detention Center. The Northwest Detention Center is a for-profit prison, tucked away and hidden on the industrial tide-flat area of Tacoma, WA where over 1500 immigrants are detained. We offer support and solidarity to families and friends visiting loved ones inside. Many people face long drives to and from the detention center, long waits inside, and emoti…onally trying, no-contact visits. We provide coffee, food, conversation, and legal resources to those visiting. Every third Saturday of the month, a carpool leaves the Olympia Rafah Solidarity Mural on the corner of State and Capitol in downtown Olympia at 11 am. If coming from outside of Olympia, the Northwest Detention Center is located at 1623 East J Street Tacoma, WA 98421.
PLEASE JOIN US! The next vigil is this Saturday, April 16th! If enough people are interested, we will also have a car going to downtown Tacoma at Union Station to hold a protest and hand out information on the Northwest Detention Center (so bring your signs!). Let us know if you are able to attend and if you can provide transportation if necessary.
If unable to attend these vigils, you can help by donating food, coffee, or tea. For more information, contact Jamie at jamie.alwine@gmail.com or 503.970.3399. Hope to see you there!
