Working in teams of three and four, we created multi-disciplinary, essayistic narratives about the Dry Falls region of Sun Lakes State Park in central Washington. Using both scientific and creative methodologies, direct observation, creative writing, photography, computer imagery, Google Earth, and interactive web technology, we combined and synthesized geographical and ecological data, field notes, photography and creative non-fiction writing to tell the story of a landscape that itself tells the story of our shared past…and perhaps our future. We attempted to transform sterile coordinates into meaningful “places” – intersections of culture, ecology, and identity.
