Key to genera
Identification:
Difficulty in defining species within this genus due to variability in the genitalia. Head with convex eyes and mandibles explanate laterally, as in Leistus; prothorax small and narrowed basally; elytra with a few impressed foveae on the fourth and sometimes the seventh interval.
Range:
Holarctic
Natural History:
Three species found in North America, north of Mexico. Species are hygrophilous and active in sunshine, often using their full hind wings.
