Promecognathus crassus, Leconte 1868

Identification:
A deep coal black species having paler antennae and legs. The prothorax widens anteriorly and has only one lateral setiferous puncture in the anterior half. The elytra have more protruding shoulders and are dull due to stronger and denser microreticulation.

Range:
Found along Pacific Coast from California to southwest British Columbia.

Natural History:
Prefers more or less shady, rather dry ground, often in moderately dense forests.
