Promecognathus laevissimus, Dejean 1829

Identification:
This species is brown or piceous to almost black with dull tarsi and paler outer antennal segments. The head has regular frontal furrows converging anteriorly; sides of the prothorax with two to three setigerous punctures in the anterior half; elytra narrow towards the base.

Range:
California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada.

Natural History:
Prefers more or less shady, rather dry ground, often in moderately dense forests.
