Pterostichus pumilus, Casey 1913

Identification:
Size 6.8-8.5 mm; prothorax narrow with sides clearly sinuate before the sharp, right hind angles; base of prothorax entirely margined; elytra epipleura not crossed before apex; body rufo-piceous to almost black with under surface appendages and elytral epipleura paler, more rufous.

Range:
Found in mountains and foothills near Pacific coast, from Oregon north to British Columbia.

Natural History:
Found on dense coniferous forest slopes. An abundant species at TESC in the fall, occurring in mixed and broadleaf woods.
