Identification:
5.4- 6.7 mm long, 3.2- 4.0 mm wide. Form elongate and oval. Elytral coloration variable, typically red or orange with black maculae. The mesepimeron is black and the head is shiny, which distinguish this species. 6 visible sterna. Middle and hind tibiae each with two tibial spurs. Tarsal claws cleft. Antennae with 11 segments.
Range:
British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon, Washington (Gordon 1985).
Natural History:
Considered a beneficial organism. Food source of H. washingtoni consists primarily of aphids.
