Winter quarter focused on critical writing skills and poetry, including the exploration
of poetic form. Seminars were structured around the disection and explication of poems,
utilizing Edward Hirsch's "How to Read a Poem." The study of poetry expanded from
specifically northwestern, studying "The Best American Poetry 2002" in addition to local
poets. Students continued to workshop eachother's poems and read them aloud, as well
as form groups to critically discuss eachother's essays. The Anthology Project
work continued. |
