Welcome to the Celestial Navigation page. Workshops are each Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm in the CAL, Lab II. We will go outside and observe for an hour afterwards if it is clear. These workshops will also be open to students in Physics of Astronomy and Working the Waters, for an extra 2 credits. See the Celestial Navigation column in our Syllabus.

Our primary text is Emergency Navigation by David Burch. Please get this text from Orca Books downtown or order it online - do not count on the college bookstore to have it. We will also discuss these readings in Thursday Seminars from 5:00-6:30 in Lib 4004, which you are welcome to join (but not required).

    Bring to each class:
    • a printout of the day's workshop, read in advance
    • questions from your pre-workshop team meeting
    • your Burch text, read and marked
    • a clear plastic ruler
    • pencils
    • a protractor
    • a calculator
