Portfolio Requirements

At the end of the quarter, you will need to turn in a complete compilation of the writings you have done for class. These should be kept in a three-ring binder and divided into the following sections:

  • Autobiography on what is your advocacy issue/passion? How did it develop? Who/what influenced you? 3-4 pages. Include at least three sources.
  • Existing political song with lyric sheet (you may need to write out the lyrics)
  • ½ page of notes on letters to the editor readings
  • Letter to faculty for individual conferences
  • 300 word letter to editor (first and final drafts and peer edit)
  • Written seminar questions (two per seminar)
  • 2-page response papers to assigned books (The Call of Service, Poemcrazy, Freeing the Natural Voice, and Community and the Politics of Place)
  • Poem (first and final drafts and peer edit)
  • Cheer (first and final draft)
  • Original song, lyric and cassette recording (first and final draft)
  • 1,000 word political speech. (first and final draft, quantitative data and peer edit)
  • Class notes
  • 8-10 page paper on community service (12 credit students ONLY)
  • Community service log and evaluation from field supervisor (12 credit students ONLY)
  • Self-evaluation (Due with portfolio. 1/2 page typed, single spaced)
  • Faculty evaluation (Due at final conference. 1/4 page typed, single spaced
