The 12-credit option of Finding Your Voice is available for students who want to do community service. This will entail completing all requirements for the eight-credit class PLUS working with a community group for about 10 hours a week (or 70 hours/quarter) on an issue related to work you are doing for the 8-credit part of the program and an 8-10 page written synthesis of that work at the end of the quarter.

Due dates for the 12-credit option are as follows:

· October 8: Typed proposal to faculty on which organization you intend to work with, who your field supervisor would be, what your specific tasks would be and what hours you would be working (this will require you to do extensive research and make contacts with a potential field supervisor and organization BEFORE Oct. 8 when your proposal is due)

· Oct. 11: Contract signed by your field supervisor and yourself regarding your proposal (contract form will be distributed prior to Oct. 11 in class)

The community service contract form is here.

· Nov. 22: Lunch with faculty. A time to check-in on your community service work, ask questions of your 12-credit peers and faculty, eat reasonably good Evergreen food, etc.

· Dec. 3: Field supervisor evaluation. One paragraph description of your responsibilities for your community service project and what quality of skill you accomplished your tasks. Needs to be e-mailed from field supervisor to your faculty (elliotma@evergreen.edu or simonsc@evergreen.edu)

· Dec. 6: Synthesis paper due:
