Create an argument that
· underscores the differences in analyses of class between a functionalist perspective and an interpretative & critical perspective;
· incorporates the contradictions around class in the U.S.;
· analyzes how class intersects with religion, race, politics, neo-liberal capitalism, and militarization; and
· examines how class and religion shed light on public discourse around multiculturalism.
Consider the effects of the above dynamics on public schools. Include how a teacher can interrupt “the conservative tendencies now so powerful in education” (Apple, 2001, p. 229).
