Student Blog Sites

"Blog" is a term that is short for web log. It is a new genre of writing unique to the web. Blogs represent the practice of self-published, web-based journalism. Blogs have taken on political importance in the short span of their existence.

We started our blog experience by writing short reflections on our program content. This assignment encourages students to review academic themes and work experience, practice free writing, and communicate personal insights and ideas. It gave us practice at making blogs. As we've gotten more practiced, we see larger possiblities for our blogs and our goals are expanding.

Daypop is a commercial site that relies financially on advertising and sponsoring donors. It is a great site for tracking weblogging and regular news stories about current events. It provides a good all around introduction to what MIT calls "the weblog community" or what others call the " blogosphere".
