A Beautiful Day

Unfortunately due to time constraints, I was not able to fully live a beautiful day as I would really like.  This would entail a hike in the forest with a couple of friends.  We would go to someplace like Staircase, only I would choose a place to go that I haven’t been before.  Anyone have any suggestions on a good place to go?  We would take a picnic lunch and sit by the river and watch its currents.  We would smell the fresh air and look at the beautiful, tall evergreens.  We would come back and I would fix them a chicken cordon bleu dinner, because I love to cook for company.  Afterwards, we would put together a puzzle.Right now, if I am not at class or work, I am at my internship site.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but for now, I don’t have a lot of free time.  I was happy to see the BYU dancers were coming to the Olympia Center for the Performing Arts.  Instead of crashing after a day at internship, I made arrangements to go to the performance, and meet a friend there.  You can’t tell by looking at me now, but I used to be a dancer.  I did jazz, modern, tap, toe ballet, and exhibition ballroom dancing, with the long flowing dresses and being lifted and spun above my partner’s head.  Now that my knees are damaged, I can’t do any of the moves like I used to, but I love to watch others dance.  The BYU dancers travel all over the world and are extremely accomplished.  Every chance I get to see them, I am amazed at their creativity, athleticism, and beautiful costumes.  It brings back great memories.  I was able to find a good parking place.  I enjoyed being with my friend, and we ran into quite a few other people that we knew.  I had forgotten how much I enjoy plays and live performances, and I will watch out for other events to attend.   I missed the Taibo Drummers at The SPSCC Minnaert Center for the Performing Arts, but there are some interesting looking performances in the future.  I also do plan on doing some hiking and camping this summer, because I am actually taking this summer off from school after I graduate!

I think we can all relate to the feeling of having no time! But although we may not be able to devote an entire day to making a "beautiful day", we can still try and fit things in like you did with going to watch the preformers. It sounds like that particuliar activity was not only enjoyable to watch but also served to stir up some postive memories from the past!

Sandy - I totally understand where you are coming from.  It is sometimes difficult to fit anything in my schedule but sometimes just the simple things, like going to watch the BYU dancers, can make the whole day beautiful.  I am sure once you graduate you will have the time to make a trip to staircase and explore areas that you haven't been before.  Thanks for sharing.
