Beautiful Day Intervention

Positive Psychology

My beautiful day started on a normal work/school day. My focus on the day was to incorporate positive emotions and experiences to my “ordinary day”. I basically tried to be positive and count my blessings throughout the day. I took walks on my breaks outside alone, and listened to my iPod. I focused on what I like about my job, and how fortunate I am at work and at school. And I just took a breather from everything for a bit. This really helps especially with busy days to keep me focused and my momentum up. That night at school I tried to just really be in the here now without worrying about what tasks I have next. This really helped me appreciate the evening in class. I am almost finished with school. Part of me is super excited, but part of me is a little sad that it’s almost over. Stopping and thinking about my experience at Evergreen in that night’s class made me feel really grateful and glad I came here. These are thoughts I rarely have, because I am usually busy focusing on other things. I also realized that it’s sad to just go through the motions of our day to day. This intervention really taught me to just slow down and embrace the here and now.

I was glad that you had a beautiful day. Do you think that this is something that you can carry forward in your life on a daily bases. I find that positive think helps out in all aspects of my daily routine. Keep up the good work and follow through.

That's neat that you took an ordinary day and made a conscious effort to make it a little bit better. It's too easy to get stuck in the motions and forget about all the things that we have to be grateful for. The hard part is remembering to do it more often. I'm glad your day was good and I hope you have more to come.
