Chelsea, I am in awe at how deep you dug into your own personal issues along with this book. Thank you for sharing. You didn't just read the concepts, but put a lot of thought into how they related to your life. I love that you read the Resilience in Marriage and Long-term Relationships chapter with your boyfriend. The fact that the two of you are working together on your relationship is wonderful and I can only imagine how much it will improve this most important relationship, and it will probably branch out to other relationships for the both of you as well. I agree that this book was written as a self-help book with a lot of CBT in it which was a review, but that's a good thing. It had many great ideas that could be put into practice. You found what was valuable and what worked for you.
