My beautiful life

What does a beautiful day look like for me? This was really difficult for me to put together. I work 40 hours per week and  besides this class am participating in a10-credit internship with the Department of Corrections. So I spent this past week racking my brain, what fabulous thing could I do for myself? A day spa, with a massage and a pedicure, ya that’s it…no that’s stupid when you would find time? Stress level is rising.

This morning the pressure was on. What can I do for me? Then I realized every day of my life is a beautiful day. I have the freedom to feel safe and do whatever I want. Anywhere, anytime.  When I am unhappy (can I say that?) I evaluate why I feel that way.  Usually I conclude that I am doing exactly what I choose to do at that moment, after all I am the captain of my ship. When I realize that, I immediately feel relieved and peaceful with my decision.

Back to the beautiful day exercise. While most of my life is busy with work or school, I am blessed by working in a career that I love. Every day I have the pleasure of assisting clients rebuilding their lives. I work with a great group of same minded people and we share a team attitude. We also laughed and play around with each other constantly. This brings about a wonderful sense of peace to my office and is felt and appreciated by our clients. I am also blessed with the ability to continue my education at Evergreen including the funding I need. I love the flexibility afforded the students at TESC. We are in control of what and how we learn. Through my internship I have the opportunity to learn exactly what I need to build the career I am seeking.

So with all that said what part of any day is left for just me…down time? I make dates with myself by blocking out time to just do anything. Last night I came home work and took a nap. Today when my homework is done I will get a pedicure. Tonight my friend is taking me to a birthday party in Raymond at the Elks club. OK, I’m scared too, but the company and the fresh cooked Dungeness crab and beer will be awesome!
