We are fortunate to be on the cutting edge here in Mark's class.  He is "getting the word out."  I can't imagine any of us will come out of this unchanged, and that we won't go out and tell others concepts we have learned.  Possibly some of us will use this in a therapy or teaching setting.  This is exciting.
I have to disagree with your statement that people see life as all or nothing, as most report in the polls that they are reasonably happy, but I most definitely agree that they don't realize just how much could be achieved with a little or a lot of motivation and work.  Some people have trouble with self-motivation, but with encouragement and planning, starting out with small steps and realizing some success, they may have the desire to continue improvement.  This is how a good therapist can help.  Positive psychology isn't just for people who are already doing well and need a little encouragement.  It can also work for those who need a hand in getting started.  Of course, prevention would be the preferred method, but the healing arts will always be valuable and needed, because there will always be some who slip through the cracks.
