Create a New Page

Creating a page on Wikipedia is different from creating a page on a website. When designing a website, one must create the pages first and then create links to those pages. On Wikipedia, one creates links first and then their corresponding pages second.

To create a page, simply put two brackets ([[text]]) around text that you wish to serve as a link to that page. Preview your edits. The text should be red when you first put brackets around it. This indicates that the text serves as a link, but is linking to nothing. To complete the process, save your edits and click on the red link. The page that your red text linked to will be blank. From there you are creating the page that your red text links to. After you save the new page, the red text will turn blue indicating that the text is linking to a page that exists.

Edit and Add Text

To edit and add text, simply click on "edit" on the right side of the section you wish to edit.

Add Text to the Definitions on the Course Reading Terminology

Simply find the Course Reading Terminology and click on a red link. The page will be blank and ready for you to add text. After you save your edits, the red link will turn blue.

Add Internal Links

To add an Internal Link (a link that only goes to somewhere within this Wiki), simply put two brackets ([[text]]) around text that you wish to serve as a link. If the page you are linking to exists, the text will turn blue.

Alternatively, you can create an internal link with its own text. This is done by putting one | between the link name and the title of the link ([[Link|title]]). For example instead of Main Page, you can create Anything You Want and still have it link to the Main Page; ([[Main Page|Anything You Want]]).

Add External Links

Adding an External Link is similar to adding an Internal Link but you only place one bracket instead of two ([http://www.example.com link title]), and you might want to add a title.

Just like Internal Links, you have to separate the link itsself and the title. However, unlike Internal Links, you must place a space and not a | between the link and the title of that link. Placing an External Link without a title will result in this: [1]. Without a title, you have to hold the mouse over the link to find out where it goes. The little box that pops up with text is known as a "tool tip."

Instead of [2] ([http://www.google.com]), use Google ([http://www.google.com Google])

Link Our Initial Questions and work to Similar Questions and Content Elsewhere in the Wiki

First, you must find relevant pages to link to. Once you've done that, simply create Internal Links.

It might be helpful to include a "See Also" section on all of your content that you wish to link to other pages. Maybe place this at the very bottom of your pages.
