Week 10, Monday, December 6, 2010
1) Evaluation Week Appointments
Be sure to sign up this week for your one-hour meeting with David, where we will review your work this quarter. David’s office is in Sem2 D4102.
Bring three things with you to the Eval Week meeting – (a) your self evaluation (required for program), (b) your student evaluation of faculty (required for program), and (c) your portfolio (if you are creating a physical one, in a notebook, for instance; if not, your documents submitted to Moodle will serve as your electronic portfolio. Make sure all your work submitted for credit is included in your physical portfolio, else be sure everything is uploaded to Moodle).
Note that it is your option whether or not to submit your self evaluation to the registrar. However, I want everyone to write one for the practice/experience of doing so.
All this is as per the Program Covenant; see David if you have any questions or issues.
2) Student Presentations
Student presentations are our business in Week 10 – with a somewhat irregular schedule as a result. Individual presentation times are on a document that can be downloaded in Moodle (top of the page there).
Our Week 10 Schedule:
Tuesday morning Dec. 7, 10am-12noon, we will use our small seminar room (Sem2 B2109) for some of you to present. Attendance is optional, given we can’t fit the entire class in that room.
Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 7, 1-3pm – No class meeting (COM320 seminar room there has no AV support, and no one signed up to present at this time)
Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, 9am-12noon, LIB1326. Attendance required for all 12 credit hour option students (meaning those of you who signed up for Research Workshop). Attendance by everyone else is optional, so join us in LIB1326 if your schedule allows.
Thursday Dec. 9, 10am-12noon in Sem2 E1107, then 1-4pm in Sem2 C3105. Attendance required for all. This is also our potluck day, so bring something to share (snacks and finger food are probably best) either in the morning or afternoon. Please note we have limited AV support in our afternoon venue – there will be a laptop and projector provided, but there are no microphones to use there.
3) Preregistration for winter quarter
Finally, we had preregistration for Games Marketers Play (the winter quarter continuation of the program) on Thursday, Dec. 2 in class. See David if you need a signature to register for the program at this point.

Week 8, Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Campus is closed today until 5pm due to power outage.
In effect, we will have no seminar meeting on the OBD book. We stick to the schedule and move on with our readings and assignments.

Week 7, Tuesday, November 9, 2010
Workshop Assignments – Note the new documents 7.1 and 7.2, which are sample questionnaires to use as models for your group consumer research project.
Note the differences between the two questionnaires, and think about the different research questions each has been designed to address.
Remember, no classes on Thursday, November 11.

Week 4, Thursday, October 21, 2010
Workshop Assignments – Note new articles 4.1 through 4.5 to read before class, if time allows.
We will spend the first hour of workshop discussing Workshop Article 4.1, “Only Connect”.
We will spend the second hour discussing the topic “Political Campaign Marketing”. Three NPR articles (one transcript, two audio files with text summary) are given as background (Workshop Articles 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4). Please bring some YouTube links for particular political ads you would like to share in class.
If the first two topics do not eat up the full afternoon of activities, we will continue in the third hour to Workshop Article 4.5 on the cigar startup marketing launch.

Week 3, October 12, 2010
Classroom change – For Thursday afternoon Workshops, we will now meet in Sem2 C3105. This week bring your six (6) copies of your first integrative essay draft (double-spaced). Also bring a copy of the Articles 2.2 and 2.3 (the NY Times articles on small businesses use of Twitter and the new cigar company) for discussion.
