While disputes often end up in court, the law, and sometimes even the framework for resolution, are developed by elected public officials, lobbyists, legislative, executive and agency staff, and vocal individuals and groups. Understanding the legislative and administrative processes is key to working effectively within the system and the first step to influencing the outcome of future laws and regulations. Through readings, lectures, first-hand observation and exercises, students will develop a basic understanding of these processes.
