Recharge the Energy
By Shawna Rengli

Sleeping too deep to wake night,
Eyes shit, gentle hush and hum of heat
Brush against silent fingers shadowed in the slant of light.

Mind wanders, floats from body, a kite
Mid-air hovering, discrete.
Sleeping too deep to wake night.

Disconnected from body, soul might
Spread like a plague, tangled in white sheets,
Brushes against silent fingers shadowed in the slant of light.

Explosion of subconscious might
Escape from dreams in fleets
Soldiers sleeping too deep to wake night.

Stomping in unison, steps – tight,
Rubber band legs contracting against concrete.
Thoughts brush against silent fingers shadowed in the slant of light.

Never as connected to sight
And mind, philosophies rain like sleet
Sleeping too deep to wake night,
Affinity brushes against silent fingers shadowed in the slant of light.
