Ecosystem Informatics
Ecological data and metadata are highly complex - ontologically, spatio-temporally and sociologically, and the scientific community recognizes that current information technology is inadequate for ecological research. As a result, ecosystem informatics is an emerging field of inquiry. Two workshops sponsored by the NSF, NASA, and USGS identified the need for "biodiversity and ecosystem informatics" (BDEI). Research communities are being called upon to establish interdisciplinary collaboration and community support for the BDEI agenda.
Our project conducts ecosystem informatics research, as well as software development and ecology research.
