Prohibition finally ends in 1933, but liquor cannot be sold
in public places.
The
Olympia Spar is built by Joseph Wohleb, a famous architect of that
era. The Spar replaces the Taylor Brother's Oxford Saloon, created
in 1863 and removed in 1935 except for its well, which the Spar
was built around. It was owned by Guy Hayden, and he ran it with
Ray Johnston, the manager.
The well held bootlegged liquor under the water until 1939.
