The Spar is renovated in March getting new floors, new seat covers,
and a garbage disposal unit.
June
1945 comes and Guy Hayden sells the Spar to Art Eckhouse, Roy Rockos,
and R.E. "Mac" McWain for $15,000. The three new owners
keep the Spar's business methods created by Guy Hayden and cigarettes
and tobacco are still being sold as of today.
In 1949, the "Highclimber" room is put in in the back
of the restaurant to obey the Liquor control Board laws back then.
In February of 1949, the strongest earthquake in
Puget Sound hit, a 7.1. The Spar was miraculously unhurt.
