Ticker-tape betting is outlawed and the Spar can no longer make money from sporting events.

Mac McWain passes away in 1962, and for seven years, Mac's wife takes over as the owner. Alan McWain takes over as the owner of the Olympia Spar in 1969. His brother Rob McWain also takes over the Aberdeen Spar, but the time that he takes over is currently unknown.

In 1965, a 6.5 earthquake hits Puget Sound and again the Spar is just fine.
