This image is the one I used for my A is for Alchemy title page. It was found on the metafilter butdoesitfloat.com. The artist is Konstantin Kemorovo. To me, this image is a modern surrealist take on a medieval alchemical plate. The dragon (another name for the philosophers stone) and water (aqua permanens) are both central motifs of the alchemical mythos.
