Week 7 – Applying Newton’s Laws I
Read:
  • Ch. 5
    • In section 5.5, skim the discussion of static friction; we will just deal with static friction conceptually and won’t do any problems involving equation (5.10). We will deal conceptually and quantitatively with kinetic friction and rolling friction.
    • In section 5.6, read the very beginning (until the second bullet point) and the first paragraph of Terminal Speed. We will mostly deal with drag conceptually, and we will work with a simpler model than one in the text. We won’t do any problems involving equations (5.14), (5.15), and (5.16)
