As you can see from our weekly schedule, our distribution of calculus has shifted this quarter. We’ll have calculus lecture and problem session as we did in fall, but scheduled differently, with an hour lecture on Wednesday from 12 – 1, an hour lecture on Thursday from 9 – 10, and two hours for problem session on Tuesday from 12:30 – 2:30 12:30 – 3:00
After Thursday’s Lecture and before Tuesday’s Problem Session, you will need to attempt all of the homework problems assigned for that week so that you can use Problem Session as productively as possible. You will submit a sub-set of the week’s homework assignment at the beginning of the Wednesday Lecture following the associated Problem Session.
We tentatively have two exams scheduled, in weeks 5 and 9; we’ll discuss the exam schedule in our first class meeting and consider various options. We will have weekly quizzes (beginning in week 3) and a final comprehensive exam in week 9. We’re reserving week 10 for final project presentations.
In addition to the weekly homework assignments, which will be drawn from the problems at the end of each section, you will also submit problems from the Focus on Problem Solving sections at the end of chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6, and/or from the Applied, Discovery, Laboratory, and Writing Projects in chapter 3 – 6, and/or equivalent. We’ll discuss these Mini-Projects in our first second class meeting.
