Marketing Communications explores how entities (for-profit and nonprofit alike) use persuasive communication means of advertising, public relations and e-commerce to market the embodiment of themselves - their products, ideas, and services. In this course, we will focus on integration and synergy - the skillful coordination of all promotional activities to achieve communication objectives and produce dynamic effects.

This nine-month pre-medical practicum designed for students who are interested in careers in health and medical care allows students to work closely with healthcare professionals in a clinical setting. Over the course of the academic year, students will receive the credits and training necessary to become licensed as healthcare assistants in the state of Washington (does not meet requirements for certified Medical Assisting).

This course is an introduction to the tools and processes of metal fabrication. Students will practice sheet-metal construction, forming, forging and welding, among other techniques, while accomplishing a series of projects that encourages student-centered design.

In recent years, a growing body of Western research has examined questions of mind and emotion through the perspectives of Eastern psychology and philosophy. Eastern psychology views destructive emotions, perceptions and behaviors as the primary source of human suffering, and has developed effective methods for recognizing, reducing, transforming and preventing these destructive forms of mind and emotion. After examining the main destructive emotions, students will choose one emotion/state of mind to study in depth and develop effective East/West interventions to transform these emotions/states of mind.

In this course students will be introduced to the operation and creative use of the music technology labs. Students will learn how to effectively operate analog electronic music equipment including mixers, reel to reel tape machines and analog synthesizers. Reading and listening assignments will provide a historical and theoretical context for the hands-on work. Original music compostitions will be the primary goal of the course work. This is part one of a year-long, three-quarter course.

This course is a continuation of Introduction to Music Technology I. During this quarter students will be introduced to digital tools for the creation of electronic music. Topics include digital audio, MIDI controllers, synthesizers and sound collage. Reading materials will provide an historical and technical background to the studio work. This course continues in spring with Introduction to Music Technology III.
